Surgery went well. The only side effect is from the anesthesia (still a bit groggy). I just yelled unspeakable things to some asshat with flowmasters on his V6 Mustang. Our windows were rolled up, and my wife is inside a Smoothie Factory getting me drank, so it's all good. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Glad you made it! I herniated my L5 back in 2000, and they prescribed PT but didn't want to do surgery. I wonder if they would now... thing acts up every now and then, making it slow to get moving.

This was the L4/L5 disc. I feel your pain (literally).

If it was general anastesia...I recommend keeping a bucket nearby. This will become apparent shortly. Glad you made it through, I also had surgery (although on my knee) not long ago.

I just take it easy for a couple of days. That and take some hydrocodone and muscle relaxers.

Time to watch some Netflix, I suppose.

Strangely, I'm not having any nausea. I'm already home drinking a smoothie. My wife was nauseous after every one of her surgeries.

Yeah I was driving stand-up forklifts at the time and had to hold down the dead-pedal with my left foot. After a few hours I couldn't even feel that leg anymore. It was time to go in....

Good that all went well. Have fun with the painkillers and hopefully everything heals up quickly and properly. I assume you'll have some serious down time, so scout out some good TV and take it easy.

Let me know what is good to watch while bombed on painkillers and anesthesia, I will be getting cut up within the next few weeks myself.

Voof, good deal. I had double hernia surgery on Thursday morning and am just now starting to feel reasonably human again. My wife said that Friday I didn't look like I was sure I wanted to be alive. I've had an appendectomy and kidney stones...this recovery hurts way worse than either of those did. No nausea from the anesthesia but the Percocet was making me loopy as hell...didn't care for that. Now it's straight acetomenephin and being sure to get up and move every 45 minutes or so to keep from binding up.

For me it didn't occur until 5-6 hours post op.

Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that. I take it that you're feeling better than you were on Friday?

Yes, quite a bit, thanks. My wife had a herniated disc done in December. The sore throat from the breathing tube caused her more grief than any part of the surgery by the way...the disc was pushing on nerves and making her left arm weak/numb/hurt. The relief from that was immediate (like as soon as she came out of anesthesia!); the sore throat and general beating surgery puts on a body took about 2 weeks for her to get back to fully herself.

Gracias. Now if I can just make it through the soreness waiting for me tomorrow, I'll be dandy.

I recommend copious amounts of vicodin. Tore my rotator cuff in high school, post-surgery and physical therapy was awful. Godspeed.

Hydrocodone and muscle relaxers. They'll pull me through.

I did something to my rotator cuff in HS baseball. Not sure exactly what, but it hurts after I warm up tossing any ball around. Maybe I should get surgery for that too this year? Already hit my max out-of-pocket for 2014.

The rehab is awful, but you need to be willing to put the time in.

Now you have time to catch up on Netflix shows like the rest of us overprivileged millennials. I strongly recommend House of Cards.

(for the record I realize how privileged I am and realize I have to work hard but dammit stop making fun of my generation, I know most of us suck)

I've been asleep for most of the day. That's a good thing, because I'm soar as a bitch. Getting up out of bed is the worst.

Netflix will be on the docket tomorrow. I just hate the fact that I'm nor at work (I despise downtime).

I like it.

Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. Bed before midnight in college is a miracle.
